01. A0001
The tracks A0001 and I1100 are directly related (obviously). The A from the first song makes up the “Artificial” and the last track, no brainer, is “Intelligence”. As for the numbers you would have to understand Binary code to figure out what they mean, and I do. The first track’s set of numbers “0001″ is the binary code for the number “1″. And the last track (track twelve) 1100 is the binary equivalent of the number “12″.
02. Understanding in a Car Crash
Everyone interprits a son differently. This song is really beautiful. To me this song is about accepting the death of a loved one. One of the main conflicts is dealing with denial.

“In trying so hard to look away from you we followed white lines to the sunset I crash my car everyday the same way ”

In trying to deny something you often find yourself wrecking your brain over it. The broken watch resembles the narrators troubles with letting it go. It turns into a compass, leading him further into memories of the last goodbye. Theres so much great poetry in this song.

03. Concealer
This is a really good song, but its meaning is very sad. Yes, it is about child abuse. If you read into the lyrics you can see that the meaning of specific lines are deeper than what is apparent on the surface. “An open book that no one reads” “A misspelled word that no one knows”. These words describe someone who nobody pays attention to, cares nothing about, nor even understands. Typical of someone who would abuse a child because they are only concerned with their own interests. Very sad. It a powerful message delivered by a great band.
04. Autobiography of a Nation
here is a poem that relates directly with the song post this on a different page. Write this. We have burned all their villages Write this. We have burned all the villages and the people in them Write this. We have adopted their customs and their manner of dress Write this. A word may be shaped like a bed, a basket of tears or an X In the notebook it says, It is the time of mutations, laughter at jokes, secrets beyond the boundaries of speech I now turn to my use of suffixes and punctuation, closing Mr. Circle with a single stroke, tearing the canvas from its wall, joined to her, experiencing the same thoughts at the same moment, inscribing them on a loquat leaf Write this. We have begun to have bodies, a now here and a now gone, a past long ago and one still to come Let go of me for I have died and am in a novel and was a lyric poet, certainly, who attracted crowds to mountaintops. For a nickel I will appear from this box. For a dollar I will have text with you and answer three questions First question. We entered the forest, followed its winding paths, and emerged blind Second question. My townhouse, of the Jugendstil, lies by Darmstadt Third question. He knows he will wake from this dream, conducted in the mother-tongue Third question. He knows his breathing organs are manipulated by God, so that he is compelled to scream Third question. I will converse with no one on those days of the week which end in y Write this. There is pleasure and pain and there are marks and signs. A word may be shaped like a fig or a pig, an effigy or an egg but there is only time for fasting and desire, device and design, there is only time to swerve without limbs, organs or face into a scientific silence, pinhole of light Say this. I was born on an island among the dead. I learned language on this island but did not speak on this island. I am writing to you from this island. I am writing to the dancers from this island. The writers do not dance on this island Say this. There is a sentence in my mouth, there is a chariot in my mouth. There is a ladder. There is a lamp whose light fills empty space and a space which swallows light A word is beside itself. Here the poem is called What Speaking means to say though I have no memory of my name Here the poem is called Theory of the Real, its name is Let’s Call This, and its name is called A Wooden Stick. It goes yes-yes, no- no. It goes one and one I have been writing a book, not in my native language, about violins and smoke, lines and dots, free to speak and become the things we speak, pages which sit up, look around and row resolutely toward the setting sun Pages torn from their spines and added to the pyre, so that they will resemble thought Pages which accept no ink Pages we’ve never seen-first called Narrow Street, then Half a Fragment, Plain of Jars or Plain of Reeds, taking each syllable in her mouth, shifting position and passing it to him Let me say this. Neak Luong is a blur. It is Tuesday in the hardwood forest. I am a visitor here, with a notebook The notebook lists My New Words and Flag above White. It claims to have no inside only characters like A-against-Herself, B, C, L and N, Sam, Hans Magnus, T. Sphere, all speaking in the dark with their hands G for Gramsci or Goebbels, blue hills, cities, cities with hills, modern and at the edge of time F for alphabet, Z for A, an H in an arbor, shadow, silent wreckage, W or M among stars What last. Lapwing. Tesseract. X perhaps for X. The villages are known as These Letters — humid, sunless. The writing occus on their walls Thats the poem by Michael Palmer. Some parts of the poem are just like the somgs lyrics. W/e either way the song is amazing and the message in both the poem and the song r great.

here is the meaning I’ll be the first to admit that what we did to the Indians was wrong and barbaric; but what all of you have FAILED TO STATE, is that the US DID NOT PURSUE a POLICY OF GENOCIDE towards the Indian, it was the Introduction of European disease into their tribes that wiped them out eg. Smallpox. In truth the US did try to find a solution for the Indians instead of Massacre it was to bring them into the society civilize. This policy failed horribly though.

It is pathetic how many on this board will quickly say how bad America is and the policy, but none are willing to say California should be a part of Mexico or the great plains(which our greatest export grain is produced) should be controlled by the Sioux. Yet we still say they are the True Americans what we also fail to neglect; Many of the lands we stole from the Indian tribes in the Great Plains like the Sioux, Cheyenne and the Crow were not even their ancestral land. They were Plain Indians because they had, their land in Wiconsin stolen from them by tribes moving westward. Once the horse was acquired they became Warriors and conquered tribes themselves, untouched by none. So let us not be led into ignorance and believe that all Indians were peaceful conservationist. A Great Majority practiced the SAME idea as many of the most brutal Europeans and Americans the RIGHT OF CONQUEST maybe that will change some ideas and views

05. A Hole in the World
the world hurts sometimes, but dont find solace in death. start a new beginning. a rebirth. you’re not going to find any guidance in the dark… so make the world better for yourself. people often feel like they are getting sucked in the hole of misery and hopelessness and i think this song definitely defines that.

06. Cross Out the Eyes
This song definitely has a relationship with death. The lyrics “counting down our days to live,” “talking to the other side of death,” and the mention of “flatlines” are dead giveaways. I think it also has something to do with the violence in our society, and how we are numb to it. “It happens all the time.”

If you read the lyrics from this song, you can see them here too (A silent dance that we did into this hospital bed Hear voices from another room “It happens all the time” …. ….. Drain the blood from this valentine. ) Sounds like he’s crying about his friend. And a few more parts in this song I dont feel like going through seems to me like this song’s about death and dealing with death. in the opening verse when geoff sings of “dividing us from our faith” i think he’s saying that there’s always something to live for. i don’t think he’s talking about God, but that could be because im an atheist. nonetheless Thursday is a phenomenal band, upt here with GlassJaw and Taproot

07. Paris in Flames
This song was inspired by a movie that was based on the Stonewall Inn Riots that occured in 1969. A drag bar in Greenwich Village (in the lower east side) in Manhattan, New York City was raided by cops and the customers of the club defended themselves, and a riot occurred. The rain imagery, and the whole “discard this message” part is about the event being erased from the consciousness of many.

the song is about standing up, about refusing to be oppressed, it’s about forcing your existence on the people who supress it.

08. I Am the Killer
To me this song is about a relationship which has ended. “Tuesday wakes up silent” its silent implying hes alone.. “And then it cuts out like miswired shortwave radio It’s over” - it hits him, the relationships over. His dream of how they were cuts out with the realisation of reality.

“And in a short time You’re never the same again” - it was only a short time ago he was happy and content.. and now he’ll never be the same again. Hes lost his identity now (”Loss of identity”) now they arent together. In “life runs through this trade” the trade is love.. he hides his face from the world in the coming days of after its over. He “wake(s) up every morning from the same dream” of them being together. But then he kills it, when he wakes up and realises hes killed his dream because it was his fault the relationship ended (But you can’t change the letters when the ink dries)

he “woke up on the sidewalk” the morning after the breakup, hes been drinking to cope with that happened.. “and everything just changed”, as he realised its over.

“Everything is falling apart: Crumpled paper Crushed tin cans Broken bottles Paper scraps” The state of his apartment, hes too drained hopeless to do anything, things are just lying around everywhere - he sees no point in cleaning them up

“We all look the same We all look the same But I am the killer” - Final closure, admitting he killed the relationship, its over cause of him. Killer is used to signify his guilt. Everyone looks the same, but really hes a killer that shouldnt be allowed out he feels.

09. Standing on the Edge of Summer
I have to say that whenever I see people that listen to Thursday or emocore for certain reasons, it makes me happy. To see people that can truly appreciate this world and the emotions that throw it in it’s axis, is just a beautiful sight. I have read every thread on Thursday on songmeanings.net and I have to say I’m extrmeley happy. Not saying I am one to judge, just I think it’s awesome.

Standing on the Edge of SUmmer, to me means the energy of life and the energy of summer. “We drive for hours and still no end in sight at all. Driving in your car, miss the stop sign, fall in love, just to get knocked out. ” It celebrates the love that we all cherish and the beauty of summer, the transition to Autumn. I think that when most people read about Summer.. we think many great thoughts.. just as youths we all love Summer.. and I think this song represents all our love of Summer. Geoff, to me just writes about the purity of youth and the joy and the rapture we all share during Summer. This is just my interpritation.

10. Wind-Up
You can write songs about relationships without crying about it, and thats what thursday does - extended metaphors, lots of the time. Sorry, but a lot of thursday songs ARE about relationships, and if you think that automatically means they’re crying, I have to disagree. Poison the well writes lots of songs about relationships - they don’t cry when they sing. Maybe you’re right tho.. maybe understanding in a car crash is really about a car crash.. and maybe this song is about a yo-yo or something, which is why its called “wind up.”

11. How Long Is the Night?
This song is about insomnia. geoff says that in an interview i saw from the victory records website, he’s had it before i guess. Thursday is fucking amazing, I saw them on Feb 28th at the fireside so i was right up close, it was really intense, if you haven’t seen them live, get to a thursday show because it’ll be amazing. Most people think of it relationship wise: first: great song, especially the last part with the guy screaming as if in hell.

I think it’s about loss of a girl/boyfriend, that is still around, but not yours anymore. this happened to me a few days ago and i wish i could scream like that guy. i would drive into a forest, put the volume up to the max, scream til my throat’s bleedin’. maybe it’s just my situation, but i have no idea what the last part could be about except that. “…i shut my eyes when you’re around i hold my breath to kill the sound…”. that’s all that i’ve been doing lately…. hell is where you find it.

12. I1100
I think this song is describing todays society and todays youth and how sum of us allow ourselves to be brainwashed.its telling us that if we dont smarten up and begin thinking on our own we may be so far gone in the future that we’ll be like robots..i think it is a great message for all of those ppl in society who believe everything they are told and soak up everything they are offered.
