01. Porcelain
“The first song, Porcelain, is obviously a reference to how fragile life can be. One of my best friends in the world, the kid who basically raised me since I was a little kid and got me into hardcore, moved to San Francisco two years ago. Then he bought a shotgun from Wal-Mart and he shot himself.”

02. This Side of Brightness
The song is about just sort of wandering through life, seeing the things that are beautiful, and trying to make the best of it, but still having to cope with all the ugliness and grief that comes along with it. its about how hard it is to live and watch the world suffer at the same time, and how hard it is to try to remain positive in the face of all the negative. “This searching for what we may never find and that says it all.” exactly, it does say it all. we have to search for happiness, even though we know we very well may never have it.

03. Ian Curtis
“The band we [my girlfriend and I] used to listen to when we’d lay in bed together is Joy Division, and all over those songs you can hear how sad he is and how depressed, and you can kind of hear how he’s going to kill himself. He killed himself and the band became New Order–that’s the sort of lineage. I found it significant that we used to listen to songs that were about someone falling apart and killing himself, and that’s actually the girlfriend that Dying in New Brunswick is about. We were together for about four years. It’s about how even someone you’re totally in love with, you can have a really destructive relationship with.”

06. In Transmission
so in transmission is about the failure of communication in a relationship and the second stanza speaks about the false portrayal of the relationship to those around you just to make things seem ok. The lack of communication and respect causes the failure of the relationship that is what it says to me although im still trying to think about it. Do people actually talk about song meanings or just rabble on here? I mean i see some good insights and then just rabble about the band i would appreciate more actual discussion about the song to provide more insight and points of view

07. Dying in New Brunswick
That girlfriend who I was totally in love with moved to New Brunswick, and her first weekend there, she was raped. It really messed her up, and she was never able to talk to me again because she blamed herself for being in the wrong place, which I definitely wouldn’t have held against her. She couldn’t face me anymore, and it was really hard because I moved out there right after that. I spent all this time in this city that I hated because everything reminded me of the fact that I lost the girl that I loved, and that she wasn’t doing OK either. That’s what the ‘I’m writing you this letter to let you know that I’m not all right’ is about. Even though nothing really happened to me, I definitely felt like New Brunswick was dying.

08. Dotted Line
Anyone who’s ever thought about and attempted suicide knows how it goes. At first you think about it and you wanna do it but you’re too scared. Then it’s like a phone rings in your head and you’re scared that this time when your gonna actually do it because you know that it’s not gonna get better and shit… Then when you get it and wanna cut your wrist of w/e and almost die you think “I don’t wanna die I need to change”. Heck, I dunno. To me the song COULD be about suicide though the other theories are much better. Read the lyrics over and see for yourself how they could be about it.

09. Where the Circle Ends
Where the Circle Ends is a song that portrays society. Not necessarily about racism, fascism, or any other “ism” for that matter, but more or less represents everything we have become, and what we, as a society have turned out to be. This is in fact what society has ignored and how it has carelessly failed to concentrate on the matters on hand and the matters of every day life. This song will be broken down into five different sections. Each section will discuss the importance and meaning of that individual part of the song.
